Kwa’lilas Hotel Renovation

full-scale renovation of the former Port Hardy Inn, transforming it into the Kwa’lilas Hotel—a premier cultural destination reflecting the rich heritage of the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nations. Fully owned and operated by the Nation, the Kwa’lilas Hotel embodies a legacy project that offers guests an authentic experience of Indigenous culture, history, and hospitality. From the architectural design to unique cultural artworks and eco-tourism offerings, every element has been carefully crafted to honor and share the Nation’s traditions with visitors from around the world.

Island Health, Port Hardy: Mobile CT Scanner

Island Health and K’awat’si Construction successfully completed the installation of a new mobile CT scanner at Port Hardy Hospital, marking a major step forward in providing advanced diagnostic services to North Vancouver Island communities. This state-of-the-art mobile CT unit, installed in a purpose-built pad on hospital grounds, enables faster and more efficient imaging services, improving patient care and accessibility for residents who previously had to travel for diagnostic imaging.

Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations gukwdzi (Bighouse)

The Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw Nations Bighouse, or Gukwdzi, is an essential cultural project, symbolizing resilience, heritage, and reconciliation for the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw community. Set to become a focal point for gatherings, ceremonies, and cultural preservation, this Bighouse has deep meaning for a Nation that, for over 60 years, has been without a dedicated cultural space after relocation in 1964. The Bighouse’s design incorporates traditional elements, including intricately carved house poles crafted by community members during the 2019 pandemic, and signifies the revival of cultural traditions in a purpose-built space on their land.

Ha’Me Restaurant & Kitchen Renovation – Kwa’lilas Hotel

The Ha’me Kitchen renovation enhances the operational capacity and functionality of the Kwa’lilas Hotel, reinforcing its position as a premier destination for hospitality and tourism in Port Hardy.

749 School Road – Supportive Housing Project, Gibsons, British Columbia

Construction of a three-story building comprising 40 self-contained studio units, each equipped with on-site support services to assist individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
